Some Heating tips below:

• If you have throwaway filters, replace them every 2-3 months. This will provide less air flow restriction and cleaner air quality.
• Set thermostat at one temperature and avoid continuous adjusting. This can cause higher utility costs
• For heat, try not to set the thermostat below 65 degrees, even if you are out of town.  Pipes can freeze during cold winter months.
• If the heat pump is covered in ice or snow it will not work properly until all snow or ice is removed. Turn the thermostat to Emergency heat or turn OFF, then remove the snow or ice from your unit. You can also pour warm or cold water over the unit to melt the snow or ice.
• Do not use any sharp objects to remove the ice or snow from the outdoor system. This could cause severe damage and personal injury.
• Once the outdoor unit is clear of snow and ice turn the thermostat back to normal heating setting. Leaving the thermostat on Emergency heat will drastically increase your electrical bills. If the unit ices up again, call AAA HVAC for service.
• Do not let the outdoor unit sit under a leaking gutter. In the winter months, water will drip on top of the unit and freeze solid. This will restrict air and cause the unit to freeze-up.
• If your home has a whole house humidifier, change the humidifier pad at the beginning of every heating season.
• If your thermostat goes blank, check the breaker to see if tripped or furnace switch.  If your thermostat has batteries, check those as well.
